Maurice Olley developed almost singlehandedly the concepts and techniques that underlie the engineering approach to vehicle dynamics that we know today, while he is perhaps best known for his systematic approach to ride and handling. Olley's mathematical analyses cover design essentials in a physically understandable way. Thus they remain as useful today as when they were..more

One of the most comprehensive books on chassis design that I have seen. This book is based on the notes of Maurice Olley. This book was constantly on my desk while working on my PhD in vehicle dynamics.
The Bible for chassis designers. By the greatest automobile engineer of 20th century this book focuses not only on the aspects of chassis but also deals with the dynamics of the vehicle hence providing a deep insight on the methodology for designing a chassis.

Overview
Based on Olley's technical writings on automotive design, research, and development, this volume relates Olley's life and work to the development of chassis technology. Along with biographical information about Olley, chapters focus on topics like steady-state cornering, transient cornering, ride, suspension linkages, roll and skew rates, fore-and-aft forces, and leaf springs. Approximately 400 figures and tables support the text, and many examples are fully worked out in the text. The authors are automobile research engineers. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
